We The Living
1) Do you believe in God, Andrei? No. Neither do I. But that's a favorite question of mine. An upside-down question, you know. What do you mean?
Well, if I asked people whether they believed in life, they'd never understand what I meant. It's a bad question. It can mean so much that it really means nothing. So I ask them if they believe in God. And if they say they do—then, I know they don't believe in life. Why?
Because, you see, God—whatever anyone chooses to call God—is one's highest conception of the highest possible. And whoever places his highest conception above his own possibility thinks very little of himself and his life. It's a rare gift, you know, to feel reverence for your own life and to want the best, the greatest, the highest possible, here, now, for your very own. To imagine a heaven and then not to dream of it, but to demand it.

1) All I know is, if you don't figure out this something, you'll just stay ordinary, and it doesn't matter if its a work of art or a taco, or a pair of socks! Just create something... new, and there it is, and its you, out in the world, out side of you and you can look at it, or hear it, or read it, or feel it...and you know a little more about... you. A little bit more than anyone else does... Does that make any sense at all?
2) Finding someone you love and who loves you back is a wonderful, wonderful feeling. But finding a true soul mate is an even better feeling. A soul mate is one who understands you like no other, loves you like no other, will be there for you forever, no matter what. They say that nothing lasts forever, but I am a firm believer in the fact that for some, love lives on even after we're gone

Nice collection of quotes!
ReplyDeleteJust was wondering about your view (a fan of Ayn Rand's) on characters like Mother Teresa and the likes...
ReplyDeleteNo, I am not the kind who supports Ellsworth Toohey or James Taggart.....
Just was wondering :)
Hi yellowcoffee,
ReplyDeleteyes i am an ardent fan of many principles upheld by ayn rand.. My response would have been different 6 months back, today i would tell that , I respected and i still respect mother Teresa.
Although i still believe in helping somebody for virtues, I have learnt that tolerance to help someone learn and build that virtue is equally important.
And not sure since when you are following my blog but i have taken of a quote from my favs which i no longer believe in..
"I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine."
As i think along with living in seclusion and giving time for oneself it is equally important to support the society.
My3.
true...nice viewpoint :)
ReplyDeletecurious though, as to what made you change your answer in six months.
Came across your blog a month back. Have been reading posts here and there, not in any ordered fashion! I don't think you blog frequently though.
Read "Black Beauty" after I saw it in your favorite books section. Wonderful book.
I would like to suggest a book (If you have not read it), "Big Bang" by Simon Singh. You might enjoy reading it.
